The Spire

Two-page spread for leveL. The Spire, Capital of the city and HQ for the baddies.

More than just a page this is me figuring out and nailing down how to draw the backgrounds for the comic without outlines, in a more painterly fashion. Another change to go along with the character retreads I've been posting.

On top of that I decided to challenge myself with this and add to the new style a very hard lighting environment, as well as drawing the city for the first time in (semi) daylight, as some readers wondered if there even was a sun in this world. I also decided to try and get a more reflective look to the windows, which was a lot of fun even if it did mean redrawing the city and sky like 100 times x_X

I was originally gonna play around with more atmospheric perspective, but decided to go with the ultra-contrasty clear sky and sunbeams instead....might do another version later with no sharp light but misty-fog running throughout the city instead ^_^
